About 10% of Uganda’s population, i.e. five million people, earn direct income from coffee cultivation as small family farms. The coffee trade accounts for 40% of its exports.
Ugandans, who want to rebuild a common national consciousness after a complex and troubled history, while reorganised coffee cultivation and rebuilt a common cultural fabric and internal peace within this common production fabric.
In this respect, coffee is not just coffee for Uganda. It is the means and symbol of a common future that heralds better times. Altought doing business in Uganda can be challenging at times, we are proud to be a valued and reliable partner of the constantly evolving coffee world at this fertilate moment in Uganda’s history that heralds the song of good times.
Uganda is the homeland of Robusta coffee. Robusta coffee is grown on the shores of Lake Victoria in the regions called Great Masaka and Great Luwero by the locals. Robusta coffee fulfils a large production potential in terms of quantity and can be defined in the same category as other quality counterparts.
Ugandan Arabica coffee grows in the volcanic soils of Mount Elgon in the east and Mount Rwenzi in the west which ideal for coffee. In our policy of working with Ugandan farmers, we have adopted a supportive style, offering a fair price policy, predictable procurement and payment options for an accurate and selective harvest, which is a pre-condition for obtaining a quality coffee. This strategic approach, which reduces uncertainty, allows farmers to focus more on growing quality coffee, which significantly improves the quality of the coffee.
